LAMMPS in Ubuntu 9.10

Lets start off on how to 'make' LAMMPS on an UBUNTU machine with an Internet connection.
1) We are going to assume you are using Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala as your operating system. These instructions should work in any other Ubuntu version as well; but then I have not checked that out.
2) Download the lammps.sh shell script and right click the downloaded file.
3) Now select properties and select permission.
4) You should see an option Execute: Allow executing file as a program. Enable that option
5) Now double click the file and select option run in terminal.
6) The scipt will prompt you for a path. The script will create a 'lammps' directory in this path.
7) Provide your administrative password for removing directories and updating libraries.
8) The mpd will be setup in your system with the secret word that you provide. You can change the secret word at any time by editing .mpd.conf file in your home directory.
9) After Installation is complete, the script should also run an example (the crack example from the examples directory of LAMMPS)
10) Please note the command that is displayed before the example starts (mpiexec -np 1...........); that should give you an idea about how to run new codes on LAMMPS.
Enjoy!
